Shadow:Ass::Prophet

There are nearly a hundred scriptures to consider for the donkey.

The things I noticed was that Herod and Balaam were compromisers. Balaam had suggested to lead the Israelites into fornication, Herod was confronted with this.

Then there are three confrontations with the donkey, and three with Herod:

Luke 3.19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, 20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

1. Philip's wife 2. All the evils he had done 3. The teaching of one greater than himself.

A threat of death in a shadow is a symbol of death. Balaam threatens the donkey, and John is killed.

The donkey did not die, living after a threat of death is usually a symbol of resurrection, but here the donkey continues to talk after the threat, just as Herod is haunted by the words of John after his death.

This alone is not sufficient to define a donkey as a prophet. It is just the hint that it might be.

Later I was looking at various animals and found four that carried bread. Bread is a well-established type of Christ, and is particularly representative of Christ as the Word of God. The donkey was among the four.

Then there are scriptures saying which animals are bridled. The donkey is one. The bridle is closely associated with the mouth which is associated in shadows with the word.

Then I noticed the narrative of Jesus entering Jerusalem.

When I added the donkey to the mix of other well established shadows, it was sufficient to confirm it in my hearing.

Garments = works
Tree = Christ
Branches = the people
Sitting = finished
Air = spirit
Earth = earthly
Female = not seeing clearly
Male = seeing clearly
Donkey = prophet
The old female donkey (the old prophets who did not see clearly) led the way
Followed by the young male donkey (the newest prophet, John, who knew Jesus was the Messiah)
Jesus is sitting on (finished with) the garments (works) of the disciples.
The people cut the branches (themselves) off the tree (from Christ)
and rather than wave them ion the air (spirit) as the feast requires,
they throw them on the ground (earth) which says "we are an earthly people, not spiritual.
And they throw their garments (works) on the ground (earth) saying our works are earthly.

They has effectively rejected Christ, which is why, within hours, they can cry "Crucify him!"

This cinched it for my 'hearing'. As you dig into the almost 100 other scriptures, the seeing will come.

Oh, and the 'wild ass' is a completely different word but related in concept.

Once the 'bridled' donkey is understood to be a prophet, then the wild ass is a wild prophet, its words are not bridled by the Lord. I think it would be impossible to establish the shadow of the wild ass without the bridled one first.

So this presentation is not sufficient for 'seeing', but as you parse through the many other verses adding to the 'witness' scriptures above, the riddle is solved when you go "Ahah!"

As I dug deeper, the root for donkey means trouble.

So I expect to find that prophets are called "troublers". "And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?"

And there are numerous references to stoning troublers, which parallels to killing the prophets.

'Balaam' means not of the people. Herod was not fully Jewish.

Balaam has two servants. The root means to shake. Herod had a wife and daughter (dancing?)

The donkey saw the sword (word), John saw the word of God. The donkey went into the field, John went into the wilderness.

The path was between vineyards, just as John ministered between the old wine and the new.

The donkey cast herself into the wall. The root means to bore for water. John prepared the way for the living water.

The donkey crushed his foot, (squeezed or judged his walk) John confronted his evil ways.

If I continue in the details you will miss out of the delight of discovery.
